To get used to Vectoworks, we had an assignment to do a three-view engineering drawing of an item. Husband, who used to TA the class on engineering drawings, thought that a moka pot would provide a "fun challenge" (because something of a more regular shape would be too "boring" lolol).
Suffice to say there were some suffering before I got the hang of it, but I finally did!
Three-view engineering drawing of a moka pot.
The tools I used the most in Vectoroworks and got the most comfortable with:
- Polyline tool (shortcut: 5)
- Line tool (shortcut: 2)
- Reshape tool (shortcut: -)
- Was able to figure out how to convert vector mode, remove vectors, but wasn't able to add vectors
- Also wasn't sure what the Marquee modes were for....to select certain vectors?
- Constrained Linear Dimension tool (shortcut: N)
- Rotate tool
- Edit → Duplicate Array → Circular Array
- Modify → Compose, Decompose, Group
The linear dimension tool was especially fun/satisfying to use 😍
Bonus
I couldn't quite understand how to convert the complex octagonal shape of the moka pot into an engineering drawing (how to flatten perspective??) so did a trace at first 😂:
First attempt where I couldn't grok how to flatten an object with so much perspective and just did a trace lol.
